Do I Qualify For Financial Aid?

If extenuating circumstances affect a student’s financial eligibility, the student or their parents can request special consideration. To do this, submit a request to the Financial Aid Office and schedule an in-person or phone interview. After the interview, follow up with an email to provide the necessary information. The advisor will then determine what additional documentation is needed.

The Financial Aid Office at Barbers Trade School reviews these requests on a case-by-case basis. You should consider requesting a review if you experience any of the following:

Loss of employment
Reduction in employment
Separation or divorce after filing FAFSA
Dislocated worker status
HomelessnessLoss of non-taxable income or benefits
Death in the family after filing FAFSA
Elementary and secondary school costs
Uninsured medical or dental expenses
Removal of unemployment benefits

Start With FAFSA®

We recommend filling out the FAFSA® application as soon as you plan to apply to post-secondary education, including barbering school. The application can be completed entirely online or through their free app.

First, determine if you’re considered a dependent or independent student. You are considered independent if you meet any of the following criteria:

Are over 24 years old
Are married
Have children who receive more than half of their support from you
Have other dependents who receive more than half of their support from you
Are currently serving on active duty in the U.S. armed forces
Are a veteran
Meet other requirements set by the Federal Student Aid Office

As an independent student, you do not need your parent’s information to complete your application. If you are considered a dependent student, you will need your parent’s tax and income information to submit your application.
